During the 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Team WRT opened its doors to a group of pupils with learning difficulties to demonstrate that the motorsport industry relies on collective effort. The two-day initiative gave the special needs class an exclusive look at areas of the endurance racing paddock that remain hidden from typical spectators.
The program was organized alongside racing driver Maxime Robin, his association Framework 24, and go-kart expert Gabin Léger. The first day centered on a local go-kart track, where the young participants engaged in driving sessions designed to foster collaboration, taking turns, and mutual support rather than pure speed.
For some students, handling a go-kart represented a major personal hurdle, while others focused on building trust with their peers. Gabin Léger, who participated in a similar Team WRT project the previous year, spoke to the students about his own career path, his passion for the sport, and the obstacles he faced while chasing his objectives.
Day two shifted the focus to the operational core of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The group received a guided tour through Team WRT's Hypercar and LMGT3 garages, where they observed engineers, mechanics, and other staff members carrying out their high-pressure duties.
The visit highlighted the vast ecosystem supporting a modern racing entry, introducing the students to vital off-track roles such as logistics, communications, catering, management, and coordination. Team WRT's CSR Manager, Léa Dumoulin, explained that the project aims to ignite new career vocations by showing that numerous entry points exist within the motorsport world.
Dumoulin noted that if the program convinces even a single pupil that they possess a valid place within the industry, the objective has been achieved. This effort forms part of a broader Team WRT scheme focused on inclusion and knowledge transmission, which also included hosting trainees from the Garage École du Mans directly inside the pit lane.
The community-focused activities complemented a strong sporting showing for the squad at La Sarthe. Team WRT capped off its event by claiming the LMGT3 24 Hours of Le Mans Sustainable Endurance Award presented by DHL.
